Unique Floral Designs : Suspended and Inverted

Suspended floral designs

A current event trend we are excited about here at Peppers Fine Catering is suspended florals  instead of, or in addition to, table centerpieces.

We recently created floral “chandeliers” at a corporate event in Boston. Because we couldn’t hang the arrangements directly from the ceiling beams in the venue, we custom-built 5’ tall frames to sit on the guest tables. The dangling flowers created an intimate, secret garden feel – gorgeous and totally unexpected.

We heard many “oohs and ahs” when we revealed the dining space. The flowers looked great at eye level, but even more striking was the view when guests looked up from their chairs. Totally memorable!

Another idea is to drape flowers from the top of a wedding arch or chuppah.  Imagine a bridal couple standing underneath a bountiful floral bouquet and the gorgeous photos!

Let Peppers create the unexpected for your next celebration – with delicious food and design/ floral ideas that will simply wow your guests.

Dancing with Cars at Larz Anderson Auto MuseumLars Anderson Auto Museum Wedding

Looking for a unique event venue that boasts both expansive outdoor space and one-of-a-kind exhibits for guests to enjoy? Then check out the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline – the oldest car collection in the United States.

We were pleased to be a part of the Larz Anderson Event Expo to help promote this gem of a museum. We love to see people’s faces light up when they enter and see the many vintage cars on display. Museum staff is well versed in the details of the autos, so guests feel like they get a personal tour. And, you are surrounded by the cars as you dance, socialize and enjoy a meal. How’s that for a memorable celebration?!

There are so many ways to use a  car theme for an event at Larz , such as “ Match Box” type  cars for place card holders, naming tables after classic cars, car drinks (ie Sidecar)  and much more.

And, with two natural locations outside to hold a wedding ceremony or put up a tent for large groups, Larz Anderson exudes warmth and charm for anyone who enjoys being a part of  history.

The Farm at SummitWynds Tasting Showcase

Posted by Peppers Team on Wed, Nov 25, 2015

This past weekend we hosted an exclusive wedding tasting event at the Beautiful Farm at SummitWynds in Jefferson, MA. The historic fieldstone ski lodge, turned horse barn has been converted to a rustic style event venue that is perfect for weddings, rehearsals, and other social events.

Any brides looking for a rustic style farm wedding should be sure to look here. The stone barn with white washed walls, fieldstone fireplace, rustic chandeliers and beamed wood ceilings is a perfect location for a small ceremony or cocktail hour. Couples can also get married outside on the lawn with panoramic views of the rolling hills.  Dinner receptions take place in a large tent with removable walls to allow the stunning natural surroundings in. Above the stone barn, there is even a cozy bridal suite for the wedding party to get ready in prior to the festivities. For any guests looking to kick back and relax during the reception they can find their way out to the fire pit!

This sought after venue is truly remarkable and offers so many benefits. 15 minutes from local hotels for guests and an on-site honeymoon suite available for the couple to rent are among some of the numerous advantages.

The owners have tied in beautiful details around the venue from rustic benches to a wooden cart and vintage style furniture. We were able to seamlessly incorporate many of our own rental items into the space for the tasting. Check out some photos from the event below!

Our design team created all the signage, florals and decor for the tasting. Items seen above that are available for rent include our light up beer wall and wine barrels with wooden top.  Looking for more inspiration? It's a 40 under 40 Fiesta!

Posted by Pepper's Team Blog on Mon, Nov 16, 2015

Pepper’s recently catered Worcester Business Journals 40 Under 40 event at Mechanic’s Hall in Worcester. This yearly event celebrates the best and brightest leaders under 40.

This year we offered Mexican inspired cuisine to accompany the celebration. Our passed appetizers consisted of avocado and roasted vegetable quesadillas, beef empanadas and spicy tequila shrimp. We also featured a large stationary display of homemade chips and fresh vegetables served with warm fondue and various toppings like sour cream, diced tomatoes, and goat cheese crumbles.

We love the opportunity to get creative with our displays and showcase delicious cuisine in a fun intriguing way.  Sombreros, cylinders filled with brightly colored vegetables and maracas added visual interest and appeal to our display. We even filled a sombrero with chips! To finish off the event, we passed Mexican Wedding cookies, Mexican Hot Chocolate cookies and Mexican Sugar Cookies on colorful platters. What a fun fiesta!

Bar Mitzvah: Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

Rosenfield Bar Mitzvah
Pepper's had the pleasure recently of creating the Style and Design package for Sammy's baseball themed Bar Mitzvah at the Framingham Country Club. We wanted to create an environment that took guests right into the ballgame! That feeling started with custom designed place cards that looked like baseball ticket replicas, each with a different team and "game" to lead people to their tables. We set the cards up on a table with turf, a miniature sand baseball diamond and custom Red Sox signage (the favorite team!). Next we brought in the centerpieces, glass vessels full of peanuts, wheatgrass, custom printed baseballs and the team pennant to designate the table.

The biggest "WOW" factor we created, was the concession stand by the virtual baseball game. We made a custom Fenway Park 8x8 foot backdrop and brought in grass and wooden crates to create a stunning and realistic vignette. We made a table top awning (which is available to rent through Pepper's!) for the drink station, and kids could help themselves to fresh pretzels, popcorn and snacks throughout the night!

I think this party was a home run!

Summer Outing Fun!

Summer is finally here, after a brutal winter in New England many Corporate and Family Groups are planning that one summer event or outing that brings staff and family together in a relaxing setting to explore a new location, play games, and to feast on the local farm fresh foods. Where to plan that special day that will entice your employees to break away from the office? We have a few hidden gems to tell you about that offer everything from swimming and water sports to lawn games, hiking trails, beautiful gardens, scavenger hunts and more.

The Elm Bank and Horticulture Center on the Wellesley/Dover line offers abundant and themed gardens, expansive grounds, a seasonal tent, and plenty of shaded areas for all of your planned activities. From the formal Italianate Garden to Weezie’s Garden for Children to the Goddess Garden, there is something for everyone and every age at this gorgeous property. You can utilize the grounds at this location for lawn games, bring in inflatables for the kids, plan a scavenger hunt throughout the gardens and hire Pepper’s to provide a mouthwatering BBQ or Lobster Bake for all to enjoy. Why not try our Summer Grill Menu and kick your outing up a notch with fresh, locally sourced foods prepared by our culinary team. We will even include a homemade Lemonade Stand with freshly squeezed lemons, fresh spearmint and iced tea sweetened with our own honey! Or even better, spike it with some locally distilled spirits! Now that’s a party!

The Codman Estate in Lincoln, MA offers guests 16 acres of landscaped property that includes Dorothy’s Garden, the Italian Garden with a frog filled reflecting pool, expansive lawns for games and picnic blankets, and an old Carriage House for indoor games and music. There are numerous hiking and walking trails in the area for all to explore. A tent can be added to the grounds to enhance your day-long experience. Why not have a balloon artist or Charicaturist to provide entertaining drawings for guests to take home. Musical groups and dancing are welcome and perfect at the Codman Estate. Your fun filled outing would not be complete without a game of softball, badmitton, volleyball or croquet. Pepper’s can provide the very best BBQ you could imagine including healthy salads, entrees made with farm fresh ingredients. Graduation Season: Mocktails Anyone?

Graduation Season: Mocktails Anyone?

Mocktails….oh my!

Everyone enjoys a delicious cocktail at a party, but a “mocktail” bar can be just as fun, especially for a younger crowd! A pre-prom party or graduation are perfect events for mixing up a few “mocktails” for the teenagers. This can be set up just like a regular bar with fancy glassware, decorative signage & décor and all of the typical bar fixings - minus the alcohol, of course.

Consider mixing up an Arnold Palmer with a lemon wedge or a lovely Lavender Lemonade with a pretty fresh Lavender sprig. It’s so easy! Squeeze some lemons and limes to make fresh juices, brew a pot of sun tea and ice it down and then add some fun ice cubes to your drink with frozen berries or fresh herbs inside! Top your drinks off with a fun straw or garnish and ENJOY!

The possibilities are endless...

YEE HAW For Fundraisers!

Over 130 guests donned their finest western duds – boots, denim, bandanas and cowboy hats – and headed to Elm Bank for Riverbend Montessori School’s recent “Hoedown” in support of the South Natick school.

Peppers Fine Catering’s Style and Design team loved coordinating creative theme details including building custom swinging saloon doors at the entrance, “cowboy and cowgirl” signs for the rest rooms, hay bale and whiskey barrel lounge seating areas, and a coordinating buffet display.

An old west dinner included spit-roasted pork loin cooking outside for guests to see as they arrived and to smell the flavors that awaited them at dinner.

Guests danced to a lively country-western band, while a caller got the crowd to participate in new and favorite line dances.

Talk about putting the FUN in your fundraising!

Wedding Table Design: The Vintage Traveler

Posted by Pepper's Team Blog on Thu, Apr 30, 2015
Wedding Table Design: Traveler

Sometimes a couple wants to design their wedding around something they love, so we decided to design a table around something we love, travel! To bring in some rich colors and develop the look, we decided to go a more vintage route with our triage theme. We started with a dark moody green linen and added a more classic design for our place settings.

Next, we wanted to build up our centerpiece to make a real statement. We created multiple levels with stacked vintage books and an old travel chest. Having multiple levels allows the eye to bounce between all the different design elements, which adds interest and dimension. We used two vintage silver vessels for our florals and added quail feathers for texture and height. Next we found a mini globe and painted it black and the stand gold. Then we hand-painted the table number on both sides of the globe so the guests could approach from any angle and be able to see the table number. Last but not least, we incorporated paper elements.

To tie into the vintage feel, we wrote our menu and place cards by hand in white calligraphy and then added foil to tie into the gold on the spines of our vintage books. A table like this can't help but make the special couple excited for their honeymoon!
