Hungry Hungry Catepillar First Birthday

Posted by Peppers Team on Wed, Aug 30, 2017

A Very Hungry Hungry Caterpillar First Birthdaycatering birthdays massachusetts

The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar book was brought to life for Harrison's first birthday at Tuckerman Hall in Worcester. The party was nothing short of colorful. Our design team filled garden style baskets with wheatgrass for the centerpieces. Handmade cookies shaped like the caterpillar, cheese, ice cream cones, cupcakes and other delicious items the caterpillar ate --- doubled as decor and favors for the guests. Bright colored linens with polka dots mimicked many of the color themes in the book.

The menu consisted of a large buffet with an array of breakfast items, a chef-active omelet station, bloody mary bar, and a dessert bar. Our stations were fun and festive incorporating design elements from the story. From a large tree decorated with moss, butterflies, and hanging lights to our omelet stations with handmade fondant objects from the book and brightly colored flowers, the whole room had something to see.

We hope Harrison had as much fun at his party as we did planning it!

Michelle & John's Mechanics Hall Wedding

Michelle and John were so much fun to work with. Their vision was anything but ordinary, yet so very approachable, and incorporated many details that expressed them as a couple. With everything from a legends of zelda themed cake and a surprise stage performace from the Bride this was certainly a memorable and personable celebration. Here is an inside look at their magnificient Mechanics Hall wedding.

The evening started off with a ceremony on stage under a custom floral arch.  Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour complete with a raw bar with stone crabs from the Florida Keys, a ceviche station, and a grand antipasto presentation with imported salamis, local cheeses, olives, bruschetta’s and roasted nuts. The delicious food didn't stop there as a 4-course dinner awaited them in the great hall.

Michelle and John's wedding style was bold and elegant with a black, silver and dark purple color pallette. We used a beautiful black and silver herringbone table linen and a black water glass for that extra pop! That, combined with the striking tall centerpieces dangling with crystals created the wow factor.

English Garden Chicken Salad Recipe

Posted by Peppers Team on Mon, Jun 26, 2017

English Garden Chicken Salad
4 Servings

Our English Garden Chicken Salad is one of our most popular salad dishes that has been eliciting oohs & awes for over 20 years. It is a perfect summer salad combining delicious seasonal vegetables with tender chicken and a light lemon dressing.

English Garden Chicken Salad cateringChicken Marinade
1 1/4 lbs. boneless chicken breast
1.5 tbsp. olive oil
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp dijon mustard
Salad Ingredients
6 asparagus spears - blanch in boiling water for 10 seconds then cut on a bias into 1'' pieces
1/2 red pepper julienne cut
1/2 orange or yellow peppers julienne cut
1/2 red onion julienne cut
2 tsp fresh rosemary coarsely chopped
1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes softened in warm water for 10 minutes
4 oz. stilton or local aged blue cheese crumbled *see note below
3 oz. premium ham cut into 1/2 inch pieces
Dressing Ingredients
3 oz. extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 lemon - zested and juiced
2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Dash of salt and pepper

1. Mix ingredients for the chicken marinade and toss in a bowl with the prepared chicken breasts. Let marinate for 30 minutes then grill the chicken breasts until they reach an internal temp of 155 degrees. Set aside to rest before cutting into bite size pieces.
2. Prepare all remaining salad ingredients and combine in a bowl.
3. Make the dressing by whisking together the olive oil, lemon zest and juice in a bowl. Then pour over salad ingredients.
4. Set over a bed of fresh greens and enjoy with a crisp dry white wine!

*When Peppers began in 1987, we didn't have a local cheese industry so we chose English Stilton blue cheese. Nowadays, Great Hill Blue from Marion or Berkshire Blue from our Western MA neighborhood provides terrific local options.

IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE | MINI DESSERT IDEAS

Dare to go smaller at your next event. Offer your guests mini versions of your favorite dessert. These individual size desserts are fun to eat and can also double as an edible favor. We especially love individual desserts for a bridal shower or baby shower, in which you can customize the dessert to fit the look and theme of the event.

pie stick favorsevent favors

Heart shaped pie pops are a perfect dessert for a bridal shower. Instead of dealing with a messy pie, it’s much more enjoyable for your guests to receive their own pie pop.  Oreo pops, cake pops, and rice krispie pops can be color coordinated to fit with the baby's gender at a baby shower. Or different kinds of cake can be served in small jam jars that guests can take home.

Individual desserts can also be enjoyed at the event. We recently served mini wedding cakes at a bridal shower. Guests could choose from 3 different individually plated and designed 3 tier cakes.

Individual desserts are cute, convenient and fun! To see more dessert inspiration ideas check out our CakeART page

BOW - TYING IT ALL TOGETHER

tower hill weddings
At Peppers Artful Events, we have a love for creativity and design. Picking out beautiful china, linen, glassware, and flatware are part of the big picture, and can be quite impactful to your wedding. One way to make your day unforgettable is to incorporate a design element that adds a very special touch to the overall look-n-feel of your celebration. It is a great way to express your style as a couple and can become that one detail that ties it all together. We’ve seen couples use retro bicycles, vintage keys or books, parasols and food items like a favorite candy or family recipe.

This past summer, we had the special honor of working with Steve & Josh on their wedding at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens. Their special detail was a bow-tie. This originated from their wedding invites which a friend designed with a yellow and navy bow tie. They loved it so much they decided to make it a a staple of their wedding.  The bow-tie was incorporated throughout their wedding from save-the-dates and invitations to décor and ring boxes.

Bow-ties reflect style, elegance, confidence and attention to detail, which all represent who Steve & Josh are. Of course, each wore a custom made bow tie on their wedding day.  (knottytie.com - check them out!) Each time we saw that bow-tie, it made us smile thinking how fabulous and wonderful they are as a couple.

Here is a sneak peek of Steve and Josh’s wedding!
